Located at 2,800 meters above sea level, just one hour from Cusco city and with one of the best climates in the highland region, the Sacred Valley is surrounded by mountains, archaeological sites, Inca trails, markets and local culture. Agriculture is one of the most important activities — mainly maize (choclo) production. In many villages and communities, people preserve traditions, religion, mysticism, ancestral medicine and the native Quechua language.
Peru Study Abroad works in the heart of the Sacred Valley, in a town named Calca, where we own a house to host students and volunteers (@villacalca). Our programs involve rural schools, municipal projects and local NGOs.
